Learn about INSCA: The World’s First International Non-Scripted Content Association!
By Chris Weatherspoon
What is INSCA?
INSCA stands for “International Non-Scripted Content Association”.
According to INSCA: "Non-Scripted Content" is an umbrella term that refers to all types of content that does not require a script with fixed format.”
More specifically, non-scripted content, also known as unscripted or reality content, encompasses media material that is not pre-planned or scripted. In this genre, events and interactions occur spontaneously, with participants reacting naturally to real-life situations. Historically non-scripted content formats have included reality TV shows, documentaries, talk shows, game shows, news broadcasts, interviews and online vlogs. These days social media sites (SMS) such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok have become increasingly more influential as sources for non-scripted content.
Why was INSCA created?
“Now is the age of the non-scripted content”, says Yang Woo PARK, Chairman of INSCA.
INSCA was created to celebrate culture's vital role in society, recognizing it as a source of richness and diversity. Beyond its cultural significance, INSCA acknowledges culture's economic power, especially when combined with creativity and technology. Therefore INSCA aims to provide a platform for international discussions and exchanges of ideas on non-scripted content as it gains prominence in the digital age.
What does INSCA hope to accomplish?
The leadership that formed INSCA includes creators, entertainment industry professionals, business leaders and academics. This unique mix of knowledge and passion has created a community that looks to examine non-scripted content from all sides. INSCA aspires to be a hub for global discourse, research, and collaboration, offering professionals, researchers, and audiences a platform to engage constructively in shaping the future of non-scripted content and its role in culture.
INSCA hopes to accomplish its goals by focusing on 4 key areas:
Journal: INSCA will regularly publish and host articles for international non-scripted content journals and academic research journals
Forum: INSCA will hold a forum that features guest lectures on non-scripted content, trend analysis and guidance on future directions in the field
